Anti-syphon valve?

I removed my anti-syphon valve that was mounted where my fuel line connects to the tank years ago because I heard this can be problems getting clogged and leave you you fueless to your motor with a tank full of gas. This was never a problem with my old carbed motor, just had to hit my primer bulb if I sat a long time before restarting my outboard. Recently I have added a bad ass water separator with a newer fuel injected outboard. I installed the water separator higher than before so I could run a line off the bottom petcock that made it easier to drain in the event I had water in my fuel. Ran the boat over the weekend and at wide open throttle the motor ran out of fuel (motor did but tank had plenty). Bulb was limp. Motor has been meticulously gone through previously and I don’t believe there is a fuel pump problem. Motor still ran fine at lower rpms but simply pumped up bulb and back to wide open with no further problems. My primer bulb hangs upside down and I wonder if it just needs to be replaced as well as adding back the anti-syphon fitting back to the tank. I wonder if I created this problem by mounting the water separator too high in the boat and would the anti-syphon valve correct this or, should I lower the water separator. Thanks for thoughts on this.

Hooped fuel line with primer bulb so it was upright instead of upside down and this seemed to temporarily resolve this problem.

RE-INSTALLING ANTI SIPHON VALVE WILL NOT HELP.
IT WOULD ACTUALLY MAKE THINGS WORSE.
IT CREATES A SMALL AMOUNT OF RESISTANCE IN THE SYSTEM.
AS FOR THE FILTER, UNLESS YOU MOUNTED HIGHER THAN THE FUEL PUMP, THAT SHOULD ALSO NOT BE AN ISSUE.
GET A SMALL PIECE OF CLEAR HOSE, AND INSTALL IT TEMPORARILY BETWEEN THE PRIMER BULB AND THE MOTOR.
RUN THE MOTOR AND LOOK FOR AIR BUBBLES.
YOU PROBABLY HAVE A SMALL AIR LEAK,(ITS ON THE VACUUM SIDE OF THE FUEL PUMP, SO IT WONT LEAK FUEL)
