Antlerless Deer Tag Question

It has been over a decade since I have been deer hunting and my first time with tags. I am a little confused as the 2013 Guidelines on the tags say that the tags are valid during any open season for deer starting Sept. 15 but under the Either Sex Days Firearm it has either sex days listed Oct. 5,12,19,26 (basically every Saturday until the end of the year)

I will be on private land in Game Zone 6. Does this mean that I can only take does with firearm on the Saturdays listed? Can I use a bow on the other days?

Thanks

If you have a tag, you can take a doe at any time. On Saturdays that are doe days, you don’t need to tag the goat, just load it up and haul it off. Don’t know the archery stuff for sure but I think you can take a nanny goat at any time with the NDN weapon.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

salty is correct tags are good any day and the doe days anyone can kill a doe without a tag or without using a tag regardless of weapon type.

That confused me a few years ago too.

What salty and sniper said is correct as I understand it.

I buy four doe tags every year and always end up killing a doe on a Saturday. I really don’t understand why they do the doe days.

its mostly for the dog drivers hoof. With the outrageous doe to buck population here we need all the help we can get with the nannies anyway

I would be careful slaying every goat you see. Most people are noticing a decline in doe/fawn numbers.

Our Club allows a certain number of does to be harvested every year but no more than that. I enjoy putting a bullet in a nanny’s melon as much as anyone but thinking there is an unlimited supply is simply wrong.

Have you read the reports about the coyote population boom in our state?

We have had several small does and fawns killed by coyotes where I hunt. It’s pretty ugly.

I’m not arguing with you, but in areas where coyotes are a problem, I think we will see a change in policy soon.

Doe tags and doe days can be used on private land when the land owner/ leasee is not participating in the deer management program. This is important and sometimes overlooked. For example, If you hunt in a club and the club is issued X amount of tags to fill in a season, those tags must be used and not personal tags or either sex days…

Also, in Game Zone 6, there are not “Weapons” seasons on private land, so you are able to use any weapon considered legal to take a deer… So, that would be a yes for your bow…

All the info given on here seems to be accurate as far as I know. Its always OK to ask advice and questions concerning laws/rules, but I would suggest you always verify that what you were told is correct, afterall, you will be the one getting a ticket…C.Y.A…

So we can keep a healthy deer population. We have way to many.
