Any decent spots on the Stono

I live near the Limehouse bridge and am looking for a place to catch some fish from my kayak. New to the kayak fishing and have done all of my red fishing on the Wando. Looking for a place closer to home. If anyone has any suggestions I’d appreciate it greatly. Thanks, Andy

Thats a long paddle (all the way down to the inlet) and the Stono is unpleasant in a kayak if winds get up > 12 kts or so. (its doable, especially in a Hobie, but still very spray and wet).

I have had little luck so far with that far down. I have heard folks are having more luck further up, ie around limehouse and N of Elliot’s cut around structures.

I tend to go out most afternoons around here since I got my yak’s, still trying to find the fish.

Havent tried at the clam farm (put in at bowen’s island) yet, but its susposed to be good there too.

I don’t fear the Ocean, but it sure as hell has earned my respect!

Bottom fish carolina rig with mullet/minnow? Plus those inlet waves are FUN in a kayak <grin> Or guys trying to run the inlet if you anchor off  the sand shift there in a nutso manner

I only fish calm ams and pms, how else can you sightfish? I don’t do the live bait thing, not hating, just not my thing when it comes to reds. You’ll never catch me fishing in a kayak when the winds are up, you’re right, its not fun.

Try fishing some docks with a carolina rig with shrimp or a live mud minnow.

Put in at Limehouse and work the docks and banks either direction. There are some feeder creeks also. You don’t have to go far to catch fish.
