Fished LB 179, CH 60 reef, and shipping channel yesterday. Not even a knock down. Did anyone have any luck with the kings near shore this weekend?
same story here. live bait, plugs, ballyhoo, not much action. at least the weather was nicer than predicted
same story as z71 for us. We did have a little excitement…started bottom fishing @ chas 60 when my buddy started realing up his rig and about 200lb tiger shark followed the bait to the top. I quickly rigged up a juicy menhaden snack for the beast and he graciously accepted. The fight was on. Chaos then insued. As we were clearing lines the toothy beast was smoking a tld 20 like I’ve never seen. We were able to get the anchor loose and float it with a life jacket. Chased the fish for about 15mins until he decided he’d had enough…made one sharp turn and sliced through the 100lb mono like warm butter. No other knockdowns…zilch…nada…zip.
We went out Sunday around midday straight out from Chas 60 to 70’. Slow trolled live pogies back in. Caught one small 30" king, one donkey and had two other runs we could not bring boatside. Weather was beautiful, beverages were cold!

You Guys tried to catch a 200lb tiger on a TLD 20??? I bet that would have been fun for a little while…
caught 15-20 kings live baiting on Saturday a little further out. Should have been plenty of action. Heard of some nice ones being caught in that depth.
A TDL 20 woth 100 lb mono, leader or not doesnt seem right. A little over kill
