Any other places to launch

Any places to launch other than garris and buck hall to day shrimp ? Willing to pay? Any help appreciated… Thanks

You could put in at Wild Dunes and make the 40 minute or so run to south end of Bulls Bay…I think it’s $15 ramp fee.

Like I said in another post, you can drive past Mclelanville to the Pole yard on the Santee. You would be running back down, but it’s a nice ride. I’m surprised there isn’t anything like a private ramp in Awendaw.

Whatever happened to the old Methodist Church Campground off of Doar Rd? They had a ramp but I don’t even know if the place exists anymore. It has been a long time since I’ve been by there.

Isle of Palms Marina is about 30 minute run to area around Buck Hall, straight up the waterway, so then another 20 minutes out to the Bay. I think they charge $10 to launch there.

Thanks , hopefully this shutdown won’t last long. Is this poleyard everyone is talking about with problems parking and locals not liking bait shrimpers?

The Poleyard is in the middle of nowhere. There are no locals. I have heard of break ins, but that Can happen anywhere. Charleston folk have to either head north from IOP, or go up to the Poleyard, and run back down a bit. As I have mentioned, I hate dealing with Mcville bs so I put in at SIF south of Gtown, and take Casino creek to Cowpens. With the lack of rain, I am getting some decent reports from Winyah. That’s where I will be next week.

Y’all really need to let go of this “locals not liking bait shrimpers”. Judging everyone isn’t right. Tell us about your OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. Not hearsay or rumors… Why when where. Sounds to me more like a couple shrimpers don’t like the locals because they themselves have parking issues or think something’s not fair… Is this anywhere besides mcclellanville?

Well anyhow. Sorry you feel this way for whatever reason. I’ve only known the folks there to be helpful and nice to anyone they meet…and have pulled many a stranger in if out in the water and needed help.

Life’s to short to hold and harvest anger. If you want to be upset…be upset that the government closing has closed down our ramps.

i would have to agree. Im from that place Ohio were it seems we get made fun of alot but thats ok. I’ve had nothing but good interactions with people in charleston. So far everyone nice and helpul…I miss family back home but really love it here…

Penny,

I harbor no grudge or ill will against anyone in the Village. It’s just a PIA parking situation. It’s also just as quick for me to put in at SIF and do the run I described.

Be carefull of the poleyard after dark. parked there once and had a window broken and my truck ramsacked.
