Finally some time off and the kids are chomping at the bit. I haven’t fished in a month or so and I’m sure things are a lot different. Any kind of report would be great if anyone out there has been fishing in the last week or two. Thanks

Jennifer and I caught a 10 fish limit on a 65 foot hump off the river channel in the Big Pool in 30 minutes. Fish were decent at 21-28 inches and were coming through at 35-50 feet. We were fishing 1 rod each:smiley:.
Thanks for the help guys. We ended up trolling the channel between bomb and Spence. We went about .5 with DR and FL at 40ft . Caught 15 a few were short but mostly quality fish… Gonna give it a shot again in the morning . Thanks again.

With the talk of fish being caught on freelines & shallower more recently, I decided to try pulling planer boards Sunday morning. I was in the mouth of Bear Cr. at 6:30am & started putting lines out. I had a massive strike before I could get my 2nd board out. Thought for sure it was a big striper. after 5 minutes of give and take I got it to the boat. It was a huge 5 ft. gar, biggest one I’ve caught on Murray. Anyway, finally got the boards out, plus a down rod off the transom. I ended up with a limit of 12"-16" fish, with 1 being over 21". I caught several gar in between. All on boards. Off the water around 10.

I fished late evening Sun and Mon. Went out solo Sun eve and picked up 5 legit keepers to 26", then went back Mon eve and only got 4 between 3 of us and fish were smaller.
All suspended fish caught on spoons in the 40’-60’ range

How are those new downriggers working out for you, Tim? I’ve finally got mine ready to fish, just in time to start pulling again .

I haven’t used them in a couple of weeks, worked the spoons this weekend, but they worked out fine this summer.
It’s not too late if you just want to check them out now that you have them ready. For me, early-mid Sept can sometimes be the best nighttime trolling of the year right after the fish move back up in the water column.
How effective is it when trolling a rapala behind a dipsy dive?
I never used one, but definitely worth a try this time of year.
Once the water cools down just a bit more, you should be able to catch them trolling with nothing more than a good deep diving plug like a Stretch 25, especially in the late evening and after dark.
Started fishing a little before 7 and had our first fish, a 25", in the first few minutes when a buddy got one on the second drop of his spoon. Unfortunately, that was also the last fish of the evening as well.
Fished the spoons till right at dark and then trolled a bit, which has been a “can’t miss” thing for the last few months. Marked a few fish, but not many, in the big water (30-45’ range) without any takers before hanging it up after about an hour or so.
Took a bit to find fish this morning. They don’t seem to be where they used to be. Finally located pretty good concentrations of them in a couple different areas, typically in 40 to 50 feet of water. The bite was fairly frequent on the downrods, but getting them to hook up was a real pain. I could feel them on but then they’d release the bait and it would come up without a mark on it. Water tempt was 79.0 to 79.6
Nope. No evacuation. I caught a limit in 25 minutes this morning on a 65 foot hump off the river channel in the Pool. Fish were 48 to the bottom. My smallest was 23 inches with the biggest 31. I’d post an upside down photo, but apparently the file is now too big.
What’s going on with this site!!??
Got 8 trolling tonight, but only half were legit keepers. Didn’t mark a whole lot of fish, but when we did, we would usually pick one up. All caught in the 35’ range.
