I just bought a 17" McKee cc and know very little about fishing saltwater and would like to join a good club to learn not only how to fish it but also the does and don’ts. I don’t know what I am limited to because of the size of my boat. Any help would be appreciated.
search the forums inshore and enjoy
To my knowledge, the Summerville Saltwater Anglers have the best thing going as far as inshore clubs go.
Hey thanks guys, I thought I saw where Summerville had a waiting list though. But I could try and contact them.
How about the Stono River Fishing Club?
I didn’t see anything about a waiting list on their site.
Thanks FlickerFisher I just looked at there site and will call the contact # they have up tomorrow.
You are welcome to come to the Stono River Fishing Club. I am the Tournament Director.
We meet the 3rd Wednesday of every month at the West Ashley Outboard Motor Club located here…

Our next meeting is February 19th. If you can, come on buy for a meeting or two to see if you like it. We are an open group and welcome any new members.
There is no waiting list for Summerville so far. As we grow we will cap it, but we are not there yet.
Thanks for the kind words Rad, we are trying!
To answer your inquiry FoxTrot, its probably more about where you live. There are a bunch of great clubs in town. East Cooper (ECFC) is in Mt Pleasant, Stono River (SRFC) is in West Ashley area, Lowcountry Anglers (LCA) is in James Island. Summerville (SSWA) is of course in Summerville. It would be a bear for someone who lives in James Island to be an active member of our club just due to the commute. That being said, we have active members who live in Greenville, Aiken, Spartanburg, etc.
If you would like to check SSWA out, we have a membership meeting next Wednesday (free food). Check out our website (www.summervillesaltwateranglers.com) or contact our Membership director Neal at sswamembership@gmail.com

Thanks joseph69 I was going to make a call. Thanks for the invite. I know where your meeting place is, that’s where I test drove my boat from. The guy I bought it from belonged to West Ashley Outboard Motor Club.
Hey Optiker thanks for the info. I live in Goose Creek so I am very interested in checking out Summerville as well. I will be at your next meeting.
Thank You
Optiker,
Can anyone interested in the Club show up Wednesday or do we need to contact someone to go? I live in Summerville and am very interested in finding a club.
Of course! Just show up and seek me out and introduce yourself. I’ll in turn introduce you to others! See you then

The Lowcountry Anglers fishing club is actively seeking new members. We meet on the second Monday of the month in James Island, We have members from all over the lowcountry.
The Lowcountry Anglers Fishing Club was started in 1995 with only a few members, and has grown to become the foremost fishing club in the Lowcountry.
We are primarily an inshore fishing club located in Charleston, South Carolina. In general, we fish the intercostals waters on the South Carolina coast between Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head. We fish mostly for Trout, Flounder, Sheepshead, Red Drum, Black Drum, Cobia, King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, and Spadefish.
We conduct monthly In-club Tournaments with points awarded which at the end of the year are tallied up and the angler with the most points receives the Lowcountry Anglers “Angler of the Year” Award.
The Lowcountry Anglers fishing club also hosts one major public tournament per year. Our Captain’s Meeting for this tournament is regarded as the best in the Lowcountry.
The Lowcountry Anglers not only help with monetary donations, but also volunteer to take groups of Camp Good Times campers fishing at the Folly Beach & Mt. Pleasent Piers.
The Lowcountry Anglers met up with the Camp Good Times Summer Campers on the Mt Pleasant pier on June 25, 2013 and enjoyed a great fishing day. We caught quite a few fish this year topped off with a nice 16+ inch speckled trout. Here is a link to our website

Welcome to Lowcountry fishing. As Optiker mentioned, our next SSWA meeting is this coming Wednesday at Miler CC, in Summerville. Captain Brian Garris of Reel Deal charters will lecture about late winter early spring fishing techniques. The meetings are a lot of fun with food and drink for all.
I’ll be at the Membership table, so please drop by.

I warn you about the toxins in the Upper Wando, the Cooper River Piranha, the Somalia pirates that cruise the intracoastal, and THIS is the thanks I get! Geeeezzz…
Thanks for the kind words about SSWA Rad, and like Optiker said if not us join a club near you and support it. All benefit our resource in its own special way.
One thing we are VERY proud of at SSWA is we are a FAMILY FRIENDLY fishing club. We vowed to do that at out first meeting in 2011 and have held to that ever since. We have monthly and annual events targeted specifically for youths that are free to them with family membership. These events grow bigger and more popular each year with a single goal in mind - get kids on the water and grow a passion and appreciation of the resources we are so fortunate to have.
And of course, we all focus on our shared passion - saltwater angling! If you aren’t certain whether you want to join come by and check out our meeting and then decide. There is no obligation, of course, but my guess is you’ll like what you see.
If I can be of any help with specific questions please shoot me a PM! I’ll be side by side with Crimson Tide (Neal) at the meeting!
