Sure. There’s plenty of good Murray stripes to be had. Until the lake turns over, drift freelines and 30-50 foot down rods below the Gap in the river channel. It’s my favorite way to fish. Also, don’t forget to occasionally jig spoons.
I fished yesterday afternoon from noon until 3:30 and caught plenty of decent fish and kept 4 for the Frydaddy. The biggest was a chunky 9 pounder.
I think it’s a case of a lot of people not being able to get out there the past week or so. We have some good people on this board who are usually quick with a report if they have one.
But seriously fish are still spread out like crazy. I have reports from johns crk to ramps 3&4 all in the last 4 days. They really just aren’t concentrated in any one place. Just put the boards out and cover ground. Fish are everywhere.

Any schooling action? Everybody I’ve talked with in the past couple days said they been hit or miss. But I don’t think they’re regulars like some of u guys on here.
OK boys, we’re all packed up and ready to get there tomorrow around 10am.
We will be unpacked, set up and fishing by 1pm. Just me and my son. The girls are coming up later, after taking the grands to the Halloween thing at the zoo.
Sooo, he and I will have around 6-8 hours of good bass/striper fishing and then get back to camp and cook the ladies a nice dinner.
I will post pics of our adventure, but it’ll be late Sunday or maybe Monday before I can.
Thanks again and appreciate the help!

fished above dreher island this morning. marked lots of fish. caught a small group hitting the top and caught a few out of them. all the fish i marked were between 15-25’ in 50’ depth. not a facebook member but thanks for the helpful advice.
I generally do not chase schools. Sure, it can be a bonanza, yet it can also be frustrating. I prefer to simply fish according to the seasonal patterns I’ve figured out over many years. That’s much more fool-proof for me. Now if they come “flushing the toilet” around the boat, I’m going to seize the opportunity.
I like to look for big schools. A handful of fish coming up is a waste of gas to try and chase as far as I’m concerned. Once I find a large school hitting the top I’ll stay and work them even after they’ve gone down. Saw a large one yesterday afternoon near the little gap. They went down and I tried a spoon for a while but no takers. I was using a slightly smaller one than what I’ve been seeing on people’s rods so maybe that was the problem. Or maybe they wanted live bait. Lol or maybe they just didn’t want anything I had!
I was talking about that today, stripers not wanting any artificial bait, with an old fishing friend. Found one school several years ago that must have all had lockjaw. Threw almost every bait in the tackle boxes into that school for around an hour and never had a strike. We should have done like old Mr. ■■■■■ used to do when I was young. He fished with dynamite when there were still big schools of white bass in Murray. You’d hear a big boom like thunder and sometimes another one a short while later. I’d ask grandma if a storm was coming and she’d say " No, that’s just Mr. ■■■■■, fishing. He uses dynamite."
