Old decks have poor ph. Sow some agg lime to get it ready for more effective fall planting
If you got time to lean, you got time to clean.
it has already been planted but i dont know what kind of seed to plant.

Take several soil samples to your nearest Clemson ext. I agree with Swamp Angel lime is your best choice. Any legumes are great, beans, vetch, etc.(good protein). Keeping the briar goats off of the seedlings can be difficult. You would hate to end up with a toothpick garden… Contact Luther Wannamaker, he has some good blends. We have planted a manure mix just after turkey season it will last until late summer. It helps to build nitrogen and organic matter.
Clay peas and kale mixture. both will grow in poor soil, but don’t like shade.
On the peas keep them off for the first few weeks to get them established if they get nipped off with only the first couple of leaves they die. once the bush gets established the deer usually only eat the tender shoots off it. It also makes a good attractant for turkeys.
working hard and playing harder
