Any Suggestions, New To Inshore

Where is a decent, easily navigated area to fish, for a newbie in the Wando, Cooper, Ashley river areas? Thanks for ANY advice. Not looking for the Secret spots, just a good day out with family, soaking some bait.

Check out a Top Spot Chart they are great with many areas highlighted.

Around $20 and they are available at many of the local shops. Like Haddrell’s (where I work).

Good luck on learning the Lowcountry.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will certainly try it out. Does Haddrells sell live bait?

yes, hadrells sells live bait&frozen.also any fishing tackle needs.good fishing to you.(the bigger the bait the bigger the fish)

Good, Looks like I will be paying them a visit Saturday.
Thanks

Consider joining a local fishing club, and also attend some of the free seminars.
There is a great one coming up at Palmetto Boat Sales on Hwy 17 on Tues Oct 25.

I usually fish the Folly River or Charleston Harbor by boat. If looking for a public dock, Demetre Park on James Island is one of the most productive spots around I’ve been told.

Thanks for all the info. Greatly appreciated. I hope to be able to contribute one day.

My plan at the moment, is to put in near the 41 bridge and fish the small creeks up to paradise. If it doesn’t turn out, I can blame my Google Map skills,

You should do alright there, but make sure you can use the ramp first – it’s not a public ramp. Good luck on the water!

thanks for the heads up, that saved me some trouble. might put n at paradise ramp. Might start a new thread for info on that ramp

check out wando river marina thread, for more info.good luck!(the bigger the bait, the bigger the fish)

The bigger the bait the bigger the fish…sometimes nor always…some days (bluebird skies, cold front), it might pay to scale down leader/hook/bait…

Typically anywhere up the Cooper into one of the creeks is a good place to get out of the mainstream channel with family. Many back creeks provide great Red and Catfishing as well as trout using a popping cork with Shrimp around the oyster beds. My suggestion is hit any bank around High Tide and fish with Cut Mullet or Mud Minnows, this will net the best fight. Also fishing flats with the Mud Minnow with a flounder Rig. Good Luck and welcome to the Low Country where it’s always fishing season!
Hope to see you in the creeks. PJ
