I don’t think this is comparable to Hugo. Hugo blew threw here so fast, there wasn’t time for that much rain, and the water damage was from salt water coming in, not from rain water flooding and washing out. Maybe the shrimp came in from the Ocean during HUGO with the storm surge…Seems like all this fresh water coming down the river would wash the shrimp out to the ocean…Hope I’m wrong, guess there is only one way to find out…

I was here during Hugo, and if you remember correctly, it rained for almost 3 days straight AFTER the storm, creating tons of flooding from rainwater.
NUT3, I do remember the rain after the storm, because we had to put Tar paper up to dry in the roof that had been blown off our house…I just don’t remember how much rain that was, and didn’t think it compared to the 20 inches we got last weekend…How’d you do yesterday at BB??
I remember we evacuated to Columbia and woke up the morning after to devastation in Columbia. My brother and I went to Clemson with my his GF and watched Clemson play Maryland in football while my dad ate his fingers off in worry b/c there was no social media/smart phones back then and we actually got the news of how bad it was from a friend of ours in Atlanta watching the news. Got home on Sunday. The storm hit Thursday night. I spent ALL DAY Sunday in a steady downpour cleaning up our yard in Snee Farm. I remember distinctly we had 5 trees in our yard blown over. Two in back, and one on each side and front of our house. Each tree fell away from the house! Someone was looking out for us that day!
My parents had a beach house on front beach IOP. Storm surge took the steps on the inland side of the house and moved them 4 rows back, still intact! We had a metal roof and a small corner was ripped off. Lovely Mayor Carmen Bunch would not allow people back on IOP for a week! When we got there, there was 2ft of water in the house. The Homeowner’s agent and Flood agent were there at the same time and were arguing whether or not it was it was “rising water” in the house or rainwater. My Dad said y’all go downstairs and fight it out! One of you is coming back upstairs with a check! Hilarious! It was finally determined that since the water didn’t “taste” salty, the 2ft of water in our house was from rain! HAHA!
Got half a cooler of the big boys. Look at my post “BB 10-8-15”
