Not going to improve it, that’s for sure.

Only “tide” will tell.

The shrimp will move back to deep water but maybe just maybe they will come back during the end of the season. But honestly I think shrimp season is over…

I would be interested in to hear some reports come in from buefort Hilton head area. I feel like Charleston through winyah bay is probably over. I’m so sad, but iit could be worse
Went to Bulls bay (south) this afternoon trying to thread the needle. Had a few hours of decent rainy weather before the winds picked up. Started throwing at 3:45p and picked up at 7:00p In hind sight it wasnt the best idea but cabin fever made us do it. We actually ended up with almost half a cooler of mostly med to large with quite a few huge ones. I guess the fresh water hasn’t effected them yet but not as much fresh flowing in as the harbors. Again, it wasn’t the best idea so I don’t need to be told again!

You think it’s safe to eat them? Not sure if the runoff poses any problems. After a rain like this, how long until the oysters will be safe?

Anyone going to even try over the next few days?
God bless ya’ll in the low country, my basement flooded yesterday but it’s nothing compered to the flooding along the coast that I see on TV!
The recreational shrimp season is over! With all the fresh water flooding the estuaries it drives all the shrimp out to higher salinity waters. Same thing happened when Hugo came in.
Went friday night and got about a half before the lightning got to close. 17’ emt poles probably not the best thing to be messing with in a thunderstorm
My brother lives on the Wateree River just below Camden. He told me Sunday morning that the whole river looked like it had antifreeze in it. There was some sort of big spill at a chemical company just up river from him. All that stuff is headed for the coast with God only knows how much raw sewage mixed in it from as far up as Columbia. I believe my season is over for this year at least.

Think its done for the most part, worried about the oysters too.
We got more rain with this storm than Hugo, but here’s what I remember.
A friend of mine had a small engine shop in back of his house that was a side job for him. He hired me to help him after the storm because he was swamped with chain saw repairs. We worked like crazy people on our day jobs and fixing chain saws at night until the last few days of baiting season. I had bought a license in August and had poles, bait and everything. We went out in front of crab bank 2 nights in a row during the last week of the season in November. We coolered out in about 3 passes of the poles, all large and jumbos. Now you can believe it or not, but its true.
It’s still 5 or 6 weeks until the season ends, so you never know what can happen.
