I am at my wits end with this ethanol stuff. I have changed all my lines, filters, and added a seperator. I went for an hour boat ride the other day after installing a new in-line filter and the boat died on me because it was clogged. I have clogged two filters in 2 days. The only thing I haven’t changed up to this point is the gas tank. I have a 50 gallon tank under the console and am sure this is where the rest of the junk is coming from. I believed that I had some old gas in the tank and syphoned out as much as I could. Once I filled it back up with fresh gas this is when all the brown junk showed up. Are there any shops, or businesses out there that clean gas tanks? If so, any ideas on how much that may cost??? I just think that is beyond my abilities and don’t want to mess anything up. Thanks as usual

What kind of tank do you have and how old is it? If you have a fiberglass tank, you might as well plan on replacing it because the ethanol breaks down the resin and cleaning it won’t help. Personally, I would replace any tank over 10-15 years old due to a potential for leaks.
My tank as far as I can tell is fiberglass but it is a 2002. It is really hidden under the console and can only see a very small section of it Still think that it will have to be replaced???

Could definitly be cleaned out, have cleaned out quite a few this year, but with a fiberglass tank ethanol is going to contine to attack it. Personally I’d be looking more along the lines of replacing it as well. One option could be to put on two seperate filters with the 10 micron filter the last one in the line and a larger 20 micron filter before it, but replacing tank would be a lot better idea.
The Polymer SHOULD withstand the effects of Ethanol. The Ethanol is "cleaning’ the inside of your tank and removing any gum & varnish left inside the tanks. Find a reputable dealer and ask if cleaning will FIX the problem or will you just be wasting your money. I’d also check around for new tanks of that size…just in case!
Thanks for the info. I am taking it in to Chris V in the morning. I have heard a lot of good things about them and he said that he could help me out. I will let you know how it goes! Thanks again for all of your help.
