Anybody want to sell?

Looking for a decent 4,5 or 6wt for fishing for largemouth in the neighborhood ponds, and possibly for fishing in Wyoming’s Snake River later this summer. Anybody have a rod/reel combo that’s gathering dust that they’d be willing to part with? Checked Craigslist and the CF.com classifieds to with no luck:frowning_face:

Check with the Charleston Angler. They had a 6wt 9’ St. Croix Reign on sale at the boat show for like $70, with 20% off of that. Very good price for a very good rod - plus the reassurance of having the warranty. Not sure if they still have it - it was just Friday night when I saw it, so it may have sold.

Amen in the St Croix Reign… I have the 6wt here in Iraq with me and it ROCKS! Outstanding rod. St Croix also donated a few Reign 7wts to the club here and they are just as sweet… Awesome rods and little $$$ Dragonslayer I say talk to Mike ot Josh at the CA nad pick up the Reign…

Thanks all. I just got the St. Croix 9ft. 6wt. from CA for the ridiculously low price of $64! Now I just need a decent reel. Appreciate the heads up FF!

Glad I could help.

I cashed in on that sale, too. I picked up a 9’ 6 wt. Orvis Clearwater for $75. What was even better is that I sold my buddy my barely used Reign for half that, so I got a brand spankin’ new Orvis rod for $35 out of my pocket. Took it out today to play around with it and it’s like butta’.

For reels, I’d look at the G. Loomis Venture 5 ($100) or the Lamson Radius 2. I’ve got the Radius and it is one sweet reel. Lamson is discontinuing the model, so the prices are reduced. They have some at CA, but you can also get them online (www.waterworks-lamson.com/closeouts.html). They’re right around $125.

Just read what you are wanting said fly setup for, so those reels may be a little more than what you’re wanting to spend. If that’s the case, check out the Ross Flystart 3. I have never used one, so can’t speak from experience, but the reviews that I have found online have been overwhelmingly positive. Might be worth looking into…

I picked up a cheapo $30 Scientific Anglers reel too bring over here wiht me and with all the dust, sand and abuse I am putting it trhough I am pretty happy with it. Also I love my Okuma fly reel, it was about $45 at the CA and I even use it for my salt water rod, 3 years now and it’s still turnin like the day I bought it… Take care of inexpensive gear and sometimes it last longer… just my opinion…
