Anyone Carry a Battery Jump Starter on Board?

They’re kind of bulky and usually weigh 15 pounds or so, but I’m thinking of buying a 500 amp jump starter for the SeaPro 180CC. I’ve got Towboat US, but it seems like a good thing to have on board when you need it.

I’ve never needed a jump start in 11 years, but there’s always a first time. Anyone carry one on their boat?

When I night fish, I take one just in case.

yes i do, but I am getting ready to install a second starting battery so I wont after that.

I have a dual battery set up and still may buy one!

I do sometimes, depending on the trip. I’ve never had to use it myself, but have used it to help others. Pretty handy.

If at first you don’t succeed, drink another beer!!!

I took a generator with me for the first time in 30 yrs and wouldn’t you know I had a weak battery when we woke up sunday morning 55 mi from the inlet. It’s always nice when a plan comes together and your ready for Mr. Murphy.
So yes, If you have a jump starter carry it with you!

For what it’s worth, Wally World is selling the highly rated Stanley 500 amp charger for $69.00 You have to order one, because it is not a stock item.

Lowes will price match and give you 10%. They sell the same Stanley for $89.97. Print a copy of the Walmart ad and you can get the Stanley from Lowes for $62.00.

It’s a good deal and I bought one. I guess I hope I never need it.

They are great to have on board as a back up but remember they have to recharged after sitting a while I even use mine to run bait well pump and also on my 25 hp on my skiff as a cranking battery and to run lights!

I always do. Have a dual battery setup and will always carry one with me. Either for someone else or for “just in case”. I want to have as many options as possible out there.
