anyone ever fish for blues in the surf with thier fly rod, i have an urge to pack it along next time i go surf fishing

saw a short gill net come in with some nice blues and spanish from PI surf. not a big fan of the method but the spanish were point blank. saw a list of everyones favorite pattern for various species on another board. one guy listed
bluefish–chewing gum wrapper so i guess they are flexible.
