I’m confused? If there’s gold being dropped on me, I’m taking that to mean it’s good advice. But then, if he’s recommending fishing in Copahee, and your saying there’s no fish there???
So Lewis is verifying no fish in Copahee, might be a good place to practice sailing, but not to fish, is what I am understanding;
Anyone interested in some beach front property in Kansas?
No, Kansas sucks. I’ve been there unfortunately.
Saltyyakker they are being sarcastic. Copahee is a great place to fish
I was NOT!
Okay, maybe a little. I have been want to check out Copahee myself. Keep us posted on your trip.
Ok well thanks. today i am going to CH Next time copahee
Slight change of plans. the cam cleats i got were too small, plus
I dont care for going alone so darrel is going tomeet me tomorrow
at remleys at eleven if anyone else cares to come.
so I’ll post a report, but start a new thread in anyone is interested, I will title it
“kayak sailing and trolling” my first experience.
Yeah someone I think it was NikonJedi, told me it was a waste of time to travel to Copahee
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

That’s the consensus. You might get a few small dink fish there, but not much worth driving all that way for, I heard Charleston Harbor was ok. Of course, I am a newbie here so what do I know?
I manage Charleston Harbor Marina and would let anyone launch from our docks. It’s a very short paddle to Shute’s Folly.

That’s good to know scubastan48. Another place to launch is a good thing.

Stan, Thanks for offering to let us vagrants launch from your docks. Hope you’re enjoying the Cuda. You’ll have to show me how/where to fish over there.
Here’s the latest on Copahee. Very hit and miss. Much more miss than hit. The fish have been hit pretty hard the last couple 2 or 3 years by yak fisherman, so they are much more skittish than when I moved out here in '07. That being said, it is still a very pleasant paddle and a relaxed place to learn the basics of kayak fishing.
As always watch out for the low tide (Tommy or you will be doing the stomp! General rule of thumb, if you see 2 to 3 inches of oyster beds it’s time to make your way back to the landing.
If anyone is heading out this way let me know, if I can get out I’m always willing took meet up and show people around.

Hey thanks to everyone for the information on this thread. In particular to scubastan to let us launch from your marina. I think next time, I may give it a whirl as I’ve very eager to try the inlet to the sea or the harbor exit for fishing. I will also give Tim Buck a shout if I plan on heading to the Copahee. Thanks everyone.
I fished the harbor Sunday and caught 4 reds from 21-37 inches, 12+ trout up to 19 inches, 2 flounder 14-16 inches, and a few small black sea bass. The fish are there but the boat traffic and weather always play a big factor.

The harbor is a big place, are you willing to be more specific? I’ve yet to catch a fish in Charleston. LOL
