I’ve seen nice fish at the harbor mouth and caught a few but generally don’t do well out there. I’m usually launching from the James Isl side and fishing around Ft Sumpter. I like to go at dawn before the wind and boat traffic starts up.
ScubaStan, it’s a nice offer to open the marina up to kayak launch and I also would like to take you up on it. I’ve never been to the Charleston Harbor Marina… is there a simple ramp to launch at or would we need a set of wheels to get a yak to the water?
This pic is Ft Sumpter @ sunrise and the calmest I’ve ever seen it out there.

You fishing Sunday Local Hero? Or anyone for that matter? I may try the harbor again, but launching closer to the inlet is the plan. I may very well take up Scuba Stan’s generous offer.
Nice pic! Makes me want to drag out the yak right now!
We’re stuck between Barack and a hard place. Hide their food stamps under their working boots.

I am contemplating going out Sunday. Barring any other info, I am planning on taking up scubastan’s suggestion and dropping of my yak at Charleston Harbor Marina. I hope to be there around 8am. I now have a top spots chart, so I should have more detail coming out soon. If anyone is interested in joining me, please pm me your phone number and I will contact you.
Well as long as we’re just “contemplating”, I too am contemplating Sunday morning. I was contemplating this afternoon but looking at the wind report, I’m thinking it’s not going to happen. (wind wimp)
So I’m contemplating, but Sunday depends on weather and a few other undecideds as of yet.
ScubaStan, another question about the CHM… is there a restriction on hrs that we could launch? In other words, can we launch there at dawn or is there a gate or other reason that wouldn’t work. I certainly don’t want to abuse the hospitality extended. I can also launch from Sunrise park on James Isl. It’s a longer paddle (to Shutes Folly for instance) but still short.
The reason I said contemplating, was that I though for sure no one was interested. The reason I am not going Saturday with the others, is that I keep my word. So if you definitely are going barring weather, let me know and I will guarantee it. (barring death or some other mishap.)

Those type of moments are the highlights of kayaking for me. Fishing is just icing on the cake.
I spoke with LH. Depending on the wind and weather of course, we’re planning on meeting up in CH.
