Was just wondering if any one was able to get out and fish these tides this past week (despite the awful weather) or this morning. I went 0 for 2 on the yak this morning on fish that were cruising pretty hard…no tailers. I also found a skiff on a secret flat behind my house:roll_eyes:, but someone was bound to find it sooner or later. I plan on trying again tomorrow morning.

There are no secret flats anymore.
I’ve looked a few times on the high tides and it’s not good yet. Fish are up but they aren’t eating yet, mainly cruisers is what I’ve seen. I’ve only casted to two fish this year, lined one. Give it another month and they should be tailing a lot better. Late afternoon tides are going to produce better results.

I went and fished it last night around dusk. I saw a couple of tails but couldn’t get one to eat. They would tail for a minute and by the time I could get the line out and ready to cast they just wouldn’t tail again. Some would tail once or twice and then just disappear. I don’t know if my flat was too deep or like you said above they weren’t feeding. Although I didn’t get much redfish action I did catch my limit of gnats. I don’t claim to be an expert on floodtides so if you know what went wrong please feel free to tell me.

Nothing went wrong, it’s just a little early to see them tailing consistently yet. As the summer comes, they will get more aggressive up there. Patience is key.

I walk a flat this AM and while the conditions were perfect, no wind, good tide height, I only saw 1 fish and didn’t get a good shot. Lot of big mullet jumping.
Make sure you wear long sleeves/pants and a buff to cover everything but your eyes. The bugs are out in force.

Got back out later today at low tide and got into some fish. Spooked four 25-30" and had one slurp it right in front of me but came unglued. Saw plenty more feeding though. It’s amazing to see the habits and behaviors of redfish at each stage of the tide, in the same day, and 5 minutes from my back porch :).
