All my fishing has been in Charleston this fall, so I don’t have a clue, but i am going to try and get out there sat am too. I won’t have long, so I’m gonna put in early and cruise around looking for some schooling fish. Probably put in up at Dreher.
Good luck on your maiden voyage…got a vhf radio on there ?

no radio, but I have a mobile phone. I’ll pm you the number. give me a call if you find them and I’ll do the same. weather is not looking great, but morning should be ok. I hope the rain doesn’t make it too muddy up there. when its muddy do you just fish it or move down lake below the mud line?
i’ve always heard to fish the line or a little below it

got your pm and replied with my number…i normally do almost all my lake fishing in the spring and summer and then trout and reds in the fall…don’t fish much in the winter so I haven’t done a whole lot of fishing in the upper lake and hadn’t had to deal much with muddy water…if the water is really muddy coming down the river saturday i’ll probbaly start looking around where it starts to clear up
i’ll call you whether I find them or not…I wanna stop by and see the boat

We fished Sunday . Put in at Dreher whent up the Saluda, then mid lake and finaly at the dam. He had no hits. Trolled ,drifited and freelined. We didnt see any birds hitting the water. About 2 weeks ago we caught a few above Dreher.
Good luck Still a great day on the water

Still some fish close to Dreher. Fished for last hour before dark yesterday and got one 21"(pinched tail) and 2 18"ers. Not schooling, but very active. All on flies.

I have found that the evening is better than the mornings lately. They have been schooling in the big bend area between 4 and 5pm.
I am also trolling an umbrella rig in the afternoon - catching a few but most are 17-20" - I am catching larger fish in the schools.
Good to know, I usually fish evenings but planned a rare morning trip for Saturday. Weather is looking a little nasty. I generally don’t catch much with a strong north wind, but I’m going to try.
