Anyone out there Fly Fishing on the Great or Little Pee Dee Rivers for either Big Mouth or Small Mouth Bass or Pan Fish? What are they biteing? Are you fishing from a kayak, boat or bank?

Good luck!!! you might can catch something in a trap. The river is 3 foot over flood and rising. Its been like this all year. Good news is though if the river ever falls the fishing will be outstanding. the only thing I can tell you is think salt can catch a flounder and pray for no rain, and it might be fishable by September.

Don’t think there are smallmouth in the Big/Little Pee Dee
Rivers. Grew up on those 2 rivers.

Mudfish is my favorite fly target on those rivers…they’ll pull the scales off a greenie. Bad dudes on a fly!

Thanks for that advice. Maybe I will wait for the water levels to drop before I attempt any fishing.

Lynces river is the best for mud fishing. I unfortunately hook into quite a few bream fishing. Lots of shallow lake full of them or they are when the lakes are shallow.

14’ jon boat or 13’ Gheenoe for short trips(trolling motor only)

I used to fish from and paddle a canoe in the Little Pee Dee. It flipped with me one time to many so I sold it.
So now it is bank fishing or wading in the mountains only for this old man.

get you a kayak. You love it or I love mine anyway. just don’t try it on big pee dee. too much water that likes to go too fast. but get you a wma license and you can drive to most of the lakes on little and big pee dee through woodbury

What is the brand of Kayak you have? Is it powered by a trolling motor or just a paddle? Is your Kayak a sit on top, self bailing type?

I have a 10 foot sit in future beach fishing kayak. U can buy one from dicks for around 300. Good boat paddles easy and is fairly comfortable. I’ve rigged up a cleat for my stringer and a Pepsi crate on the back for the cooler. I recommend a taking a short boat paddle along for “Trolling”.
