Anyone fishing?

Have been looking for some updates on what’s happening but everyone has stopped posting. Nothing happening? Well I am going out tomorrow if anyone wants to meet up around 730, no real preference where. Have new rods and my new 6’ stake out to play with. Hopefully I will have some good news to report. Is it slow fishing near the top of the river right now? Was told salinity was too low… that have any truth?

sounds like nobody wants to go fishing with you. sorry

Hunting season is in full swing for me. My kayak has spider webs all over it. When I have a free moment, I am in the woods right now. So fishing takes a back seat this time of the year.

Too chilly for yakking for me. I don’t really have clothing for cooler/cold weather yakking. I am buying a new yak after the first of the year so will be ready to hit it in the Spring.

Nonsense!! Paddling weather is just getting good, and winter fishing is some of the best of the year! A few articles of dry/warm gear, and you can get out all year!

DolphinD you are correct about the best fishing being in winter but I stick to my boat cuz its chilly!

“In every species of fish I’ve angled for, it is the ones that have got away that thrill me the most, the ones that keep fresh in my memory. So I say it is good to lose fish. If we didn’t, much of the thrill of angling would be gone.” Ray Bergman

I just got a good number of trout near Limehouse this past Sunday.

Man DD, now I am in a shame spiral. If I can catch a warm day next week, maybe I’ll give it a shot.

More for me… knock on wood…

Well Hurricane, I have another paddle in my hull(learned my lesson with the first one I broke) if you change your mind. It is a bit cold but should be ok soon enough. Gonna be on the Stono dropping in around 8:00. If anyone wants to join call me at 843-609-9300

DolphinD has thrown down the gauntlet. I am looking at Monday and right now the weather looks like it may be okay. Tides look god, I may try to give it a shot. I’ll have to decide where to put in.

Hey guys, before you jump on the boats, check out the 120 degree rule. If air plus water temp is <120, you NEED dry / thermal protection.

You can wear waders, but you need to wear SOMETHING. Here’s the article I did on Gearing up for cold weather.

Where can I find the current water temp? Looks like Monday is supposed to be low-mid 70’s. I would imagine the water temp is probably in the 60-70’s range?

Don’t forget mid - low 70’s is the high temp. Launch when the air temp is 45-50 and you don’t want to get wet.

Hypothermia is serious business. Accidentally went for a swim at Easter a few years back while sailing in NC. PFD saved my life.
