I’ve been looking at buying one for a while now and was just curious if anyone has any ■■■■■■■■ on them. I like how they look and the price is nice. The reviews on amazon are mostly good, but there were some negative ones too.
I basically just need a cooler to keep some brews and waters cold on day trips or on a road trip, etc… nothing hardcore. I also like the idea of how it’s a dry box as well if you choose to use it as such.
Got one in the tan color…I like it a lot…wont hold ice like a yeti or k2 but for the money its hard to beat. For a couple of days of holding ice it does well …its been through a couple of seasons fishing and being tossed around in the back of the truck and its held up well. I think you will like it.
“There’s a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot.”
This is the first time I’ve seen those advertised as coolers. Usually they’re advertised as drybox/baitwells. If you use it as a cooler please report the results.
Have an Engel and yeti. Different sizes. They seem roughly equivalent. If the yeti is better, it is not by much. Nowhere near enough better to justify the price. I’d buy another engel .
17’ Henry O Hornet w/ Johnson 88 spl
26’ Palmer Scott project hull
14’ Bentz-Craft w/ Yamaha 25
ive used an engel on a trip to Canada and it was great. my concern with this model type is it’s rather thin compared to other engels… not sure if it will hold up in the heat. I guess for $70 I cant be too picky lol
I’ve used them as a dry box, cooler, seat and a livewell and they worked pretty well for each purpose. I considered buying one as a live well for my jon boat but I didn’t because I should probably buy a motor for it first…
Check out Gatorbox coolers. Haven’t seen one in person but, rotomolded with a lot of the same features as the expensive coolers. Not as cheap as the Engels but pretty good prices.
I ended up ordering the engel. I’m going camping in Asheville this weekend so I hope it shows up on my porch before then so I can do some field testing
