a favorite lure or plug that they would consider going in after if they lost it? I’m not talking about the $9 Paul Brown Corky or the $15 sebile, but the sentimental favorite that you have caught a lot of fish on…
For me its a skitter walk topwater plug. It used to be mullet colored (dark gray top with white sides) but got left out in the sun and turned brown. Its ugly as can be. But boy, have I caught a lot of quality fish on that thing… Its all scratched up with tooth marks. The day I lose that will be a sad one! You can see it in my latest post in Inshore reports
Yep, it’s the best topwater lure I’ve ever used. It’s a Brian’s Bees prop Bee #2 and it’s a fish destroyer. Won some nice $$$ bass fishing with it and the salt critters like it too. Throw it on 20# mono with 7’ M on a bait caster. I’d go after a shark if it tried to steal it from me. Well maybe not a shark… LOL!
This one is hand painted by a friend of mine in KY named Bill Barton.
My collection of Big Don’s topwater plugs, $15-25 hand made wooden rockfish (striped bass) slayers. The best built, best catching plugs I’ve ever used.
Can you say “retie, frequently”? Basspros I know retie after every fish, and every so often, regardless. No worse feeling than having a big one on and thinking," I hadn’t retied in ages.
def still have some super busted up spooks from when i was a kid. must be 20 plus years old right now. bunch of abuse from bluefish and other toothy critters.
i was thinking of giving one of them a try next time i go topwater fishing. bet they would work!
