I have a threaded rod that is part of my throttle linkage that I accidentally snapped the threads off of while removing the block from my 7.5hp Johnson.
The parts are an approx. 1/4" steel rod (which once was threaded on the end, now just a rod) and a stainless steel 7/16" bolt that the threaded rod once threaded into.
I drilled out the hole in the 7/16" bolt and now the unthreaded portion of the rod fits up into the hole, and I’m attempting to mount a set screw into it.
However, if anyone here can do minor spot welding on actual stainless steel, I would appreciate your help! Literally two small spots (each side of the bolt where the threaded rod would go through it).
I can try to get a pic of this an upload it if that helps.

I may have actually fixed it well enough. I was able to drill out a 3/32 hole through both the rod and nut, and pressed a split compression pin in to lock it. I can’t fathom this coming out, I had to force the pin in with channel locks.
Thanks for the tip though 23Sailfish!

Will do, Matt, thanks. I don’t think I’ll need it now but thank you for the offer!
