i know i bought up the idea before a couple months earlier but if i can make it to charleston some march weekend i wanna go back to tailrace with the yak for some shad and catfish (weather/time depending of course) or maybe even try to get the march meet and fish in the tailrace. don’t have to have anything fancy for shad fishing but a good anchor is a must. anyone in?
You know I’ll be game…
Catching Herring for bait - Red Fish candy for my freezer is a must every year
Normally take My Pontoon but want to do a kayak trip this tear
Lets put this together -

Nuke, I’m game. I just need to know in advance so I can get the day off.

We’ll keep an eye on the shad run reports and plan accordingly. Shad are fun to catch…especially on ultralight tackle.
Count me in…Maybe even Marian might be interested.
my schedule wont be the most flexible in the world but i wanna make it up at least once. of course weather could go bad and ill be watching the reports but soon as i have an idea of what weekend for sure ill let everyone know! moving at a strong, even pace it took me about 40 minutes from ramp to dam and a 10lb anchor held up just fine. paddling back i usually casted, drifted, or trolled and picked up a few more but if i just paddled it wasnt much more than half an hour. only down side was constant pelicans diving at my fish on the stringer chained to the side! because it takes a bit to paddle there i def wanna leave the ramp nice and early before the late risers get there and take up the good spots. i usually left an hour before sunup, claimed a spot and got set up, then put my feet up on the bow and laid back until sunrise.
