Anyone on here good at carb tuning?

Some of those Mikuni’s are finicky about what kind of airbox your running ( or not running). Especially if it is a flat slide which most are now.

Have you been on some related forums? Might find something there.

I understand what the mechanic is saying about it running lean, but with you saying that you had two wet plugs I would rule out it being lean. Might actually be an ignition issue and not the carbs? MSD boxes are known to go bad.

You’ll get it! Just got our dirt track car ready for this season. Took 1st place last year and the year before in points!

“If Bruce Jenner can keep his wiener and be called a woman, I can keep my firearms and be considered disarmed.”

What Fred Said. Wet plugs usually is air starvation or electrical. Lots of modifications to the engine. You’ll find it quicker than I did with a distributor spring that was stretched…lot of swearing.

I’ve checked out the MSD box to my limited ability. Switch IGN to LED on and checked timing on all 3 cylinders; #2 is about 2 degrees off from the others for some reason, could just be the fiddly bits about Hall effect sensors. Switch IGN to ON and get spark on all 3 cylinders.

Air starvation might be something on the starting circuit. These TM Rack carbs have both fuel and air adjustment screws. I haven’t found any info in the Aaen carb tuning handbook on initial setting of the air screw. A little fuel spillage week before last destroyed my note pad with the initial settings from when I got the car, so I’m flying blind.

A few posts ago fuel hose breakdown was mentioned. That’ll get checked off the list before I get greasy again with new hose and a last chance filter.

Boat drinks, Waitress I need 2 more boat drinks!
