Anyone Use It? (Seafoam)

I just got my boat out of the shop, had all 3 carbs stripped down, cleaned and rebuilt due to what was termed a build up of crud (2003 70 hp 2-stroke Yamaha). He told me about the fuel related problems he sees come in everyday. I asked what could I do to reduce any problems. Basically he told me the best thing I could do was run only non-E gas but, that I should also run Seafoam in every tank of gas as it tends to keep carbs, jets, etc. cleaner. He also said it would not hurt to continue running Startron. Any thoughts, insight?

Sorry if this has already been discussed but for some reason I cannot get the search feature to work, I keep getting an error code.

I used Sea-Foam after the e-gas messed up my carbs. It helped some. I did put too much in (full strength)and it ate up my primer bulb. After a couple of full tanks of gas with Sea-Foam I was still not making much progress. It would only run in the emergency enrichment mode.

I put a tank of 93 octane in without Sea-Foam, and ran it through in the emergency enrichment mode. It has been running good in normal mode since. I now use ethanol free 93 octane in my 50 h.p. Yamaha 2-stroke.

DF,
I use Seafoam in everything…boats, atv, jet skis, lawnmower, chainsaw etc…It is a great fuel system cleaner and also works as a fuel stabilizer. I also use an ethanol treatment in addition and so far I have had no issues. I usually find it at Northern Handyman at a pretty good price. As far as Firstboat’s primer bulb being eaten up it was probably done so by the ethanol. Most manufacturers, including Moeller, have changed their rubber formula because of this problem.

I put seafoam in my boat about once a month and run it. I never had much carburator problems with doning that.

i also use it in everything i own that burns gas -had a good mechanic that i know tell me to use it double strengh and it has never caused any trouble -my trucks got 260000 on the odometer and still runs like brand new- put a can in at every other fill up

Good deal, that is what I was hoping to hear.

Thanks folks!

Where did you take the motor? I have an 01 70 Yamaha that was in the shop last week and will have to go baak on Monday. Fuel related problem. I thought it was fixed last week, but i guess not!

I use it in everything. Where do you find 93 octane with no ethanol?</font id=“blue”>

Summerville Oakbrook area Exon station on the corner of Dorchester and Ladson Rd has only ethanol free all grades all pumps.

I took my motor to the East Columbia Sport Shop out on Garner’s Ferry Road. I went to high school with the owners. They are good, honest guys. They tried to help me fix the problem without taking the boat in to save me money but it ended up having to go in.

I get non-E gas at a Citgo ion Leesburg Road and, there is an Exxon at the corner of Rosewood and Kilbourne that sells non-E.
