Anyone tried the I Pilot for the MK trolling motors in the current around there.
Looking at updating my tm and wonder how well it works in the tidal currents

i can’t say how it works with the current but i used it offshore last yr at red banks and it worked awesome,we kept pulling up red snapper like it was our job, finally had to move away and the ipilot kept us on that spot like a dream also, even when a swell would come and raise the TM out of the water.
Very impressed…i wish they would develop something like this for the bigger boat.i would never have to anchor again.
Best investment I’ve ever made for the boat. Works fine against current.

I love mine. It allows me to stand on the poling platform and use it to augment poling, I can hit the spot lock to release a fish, etc. If I have a guest on the bow I usually can’t expect them to steer the trolling motor and fish at the same time (at least not to my satisfaction).

love mine, My only recommendation, get a longer shaft than you think you need so the motor does not come out of the water when you hit waves, get a bigger battery than you think you need, as working against wind and current takes a lot of juice. But otherwise it works as advertised, one slight note is that if you are fishing in conditions where the wind is variable and constantly changing directions you will get a little off track. But having said that, its the neatest thing on my boat and I love mine. Jstrange and i used mine today in some pretty good winds and currents. It was tough at times and perhaps my battery had issues. But considering the conditions it did work. I had no decent real anchor on the boat. there are some situations where an anchor works better, mostly where wind and waves work against you and you are close to jetties or shore. We fished the jetties with what I consider high winds and we wandered a bit. one other note, the back of the boat will always end up pointing int he direction the wind is blowing. this happens pretty much with an anchor too though. Just FYI

we used ours for the first time today. at first thought that the 60" might be too long but it is just right for the 19’ cc seapro. it worked like a charm. we started by using the anchor feature. then we headed up the river about 1/2 mile and jeremy hit the return button or whatever and it took us right back where we started. the only bad thing today was i had a trailor tire blowout a mile from the house. limped in on the side of the road. got to get new tire. anybody got a 205/75d/14 they want to part with? give me a call 803 331-8873.
I don’t know how i ever fished without it. Fished the congaree on friday with it and that was a real test for it but it past the test, BUT i have a 55# thrust motor on a 15’ jon boat…lol…so it probably wasn’t too hard on it pulling me against the current. as far as on the lake even in windy conditions it has been amazing. About to see how the warranty office handles things tomorrow though. My left arrow button on the remote got stuck on friday and will not release; so lets hope they have great customer service…
