Anyone Want To Enjoy A Good Shower With Me Later?

Looks like we may be getting some showers, but as long as it’s not t-storms, I’m going to put in about 8:30 and troll a couple of hours if anyone wants to go.

If you are too embarrassed to publicly admit that you even opened this thread you can send me a PM. LOL

I must be getting old. My mind didn’t go there until I read Lawcrusher’s response!

And rain is a problem, why? Got a rain suit? Rain, sleet, snow, cold, or hot, can all be dealt with. WIND, now, that can be a problem!

Well James, at least I brought the girl otherwise it’s just a “sausage party” …

Still can’t believe he said that during the MSC presentation … [:0]

Really wasn’t worried about the rain…just was worried about some possible lightning. Turned out to be a beautiful evening though and we never even pulled out the rain gear. The fishing was really slow and we only got one short. I’ve had some slow evenings trolling , but the difference this evening was we weren’t even marking many fish at all suspended out in the big water.

Assuming this cold front might have changed things, but who knows.

Striperskiff, me and friend of mine set up on that same point from the other day and it was slow for 1 1/2 hours and then all hell broke loose a big school came through and every rod in the boat went down(7). We lost one fish but managed to get the rest in, none were under 24". Then things went dead again we picked up a couple over the next hour and a half and called it quits at 9:30am. Then a wheel bearing tore up so now I have to deal with that when I get off in the morning. It never ends with a boat and trailer they will bleed you dry!

Yep Controlfreak! BOAT truly stands for “break out another thousand.” With all my trolling motor and trailer troubles in late May to early June, I’m still in catch up mode; so I feel your pain.

I had my hub rip apart 3 weeks ago at the ramp. I pulled the trailer out of the water and saw a wheel bobbing around in the water. Bearings were less than a year old and greased, not sure why it happened.

Mine is 7 years old and I keep them greased pretty good and have never had any issues.

But…Your posts got me convinced to go ahead and replace them before something goes wrong. Getting stuck around here is one thing, but since I use my boat in Charleston too, I would hate to wind up stuck on the side of I-26.

Are the bearings pretty much the same on all trailers?.. or should I remove a set first and bring them with me when buying new ones?..any auto parts store should have them?

Thanks

Pulling my boat 23’ cc to Fort Morgan Alabama at the mouth of Mobile Bay tomorrow , have repacked all the bearings and am takeing 2 spare tires, an extra hub,2 extra bearings and races, tools, jack and greesegun. The forcast call for rain and cool weather, that allways helps.Have made many trips to the keys with bigger boats with no problem, but you need to be prepaired!

take a set off and take them with you to advance or wherever. there are small differences in the hubs.

Better yet, take it to Wesco trailers in Cayce and get the good stuff and save some money doing it. I have two complete spare hub assemblies in the toolbox of my truck waiting for the time they will be needed.

Tim - get with Tom. He’s put more on in the last 2-3 years than anybody I know! At least the last time I didn’t have to cut the race off of the axle!:sunglasses::wink:

I use the Vortex hubs from Tiedown Technologies which is what came with my trailer. They are guaranteed maintenance free for 100,000 miles. However, after having to remove one due to broken studs when someone was unsuccessful in trying to steal my well, I replaced it. That was the right decision, because the grease was very milky when I swapped the hubs out. All the vibration and grinding damaged it. From here on out, I always check the lugs before moving the trailer.
