Opening Day - 2 grouper, 3 slippys, 4 lionfish kept, 10 dead, 1 trigger in 95’, next to nothing but small bsb and baby gags on ledges in 65’.
Vis was 60’ everywhere and super blue.
I quite literally had to hit 20lb+ ARS (chest/torso size) with my gun butt to get them out of the way to put a shot on the grouper. Saw four small (14") hogs and left them down there to fatten up.
We got caught in that quick storm down south in 100’ but the boat ate it up so we could 2/3 dives and produce enough to cook out on the new dock at Shem Creek for a nice “soft” opening at the new spot!
I’m working out two videos of the two dives, so stay tuned and I’ll link it up soon.
5-6: Loaded up and rolled out of shem creek at 8:00 with 4 divers ready to go, and made it into a confused sea for the first four miles. Looking at radar and massive darkness to the south, I called it and we turned around to reschedule. A disappointing day but skinny was right the surface chop today was NOT made for diving today. Booking again ASAP. Anyone want to come? Swing by the new shop across from Reds, between Mt. Pleasant Seafood and Water’s Edge! facebook.com/lowcountryscubawww.lowcountryscuba.com
Tell me about it. Ruined a good sandwich thats for sure. I shot it back and it rocked up and took my spear. I found the spear on the reef, and used it (now broken in half) to kill it and bring it up. What a pain, its all about shot placement!

I figured man, I was disappointed, but we had some new divers and the last thing I wanted to do was stress them out there first time offshore here.

nice pics and vid. jealous of you guys diving for sure
how do you like the gopro? i want one but i am concerned about the lack of zoom. i am looking at something i can use hunting as well. give me the cons, if you have any.
Come out and get certified then! The cons on the Gopro… I really need the u/w flat lens to get the truly sharp image underwater. For hunting on land it would be awesome, but if you don’t need the camera to be waterproof and depth proof to 180’, then maybe the Talon 7 or something I think you might like better. I am a Gopro dealer, but the Talon 7 has (instead of being waterproof) GPS that integrates position + ground speed into the videos if you want which is pretty cool too. Other than that the Gopros are awesome!

victor, you would probably recognize me if you saw me, i am certified, took classes at lowcountryscuba a few years ago. I used to come in the shop every once in a while. i was slowly collecting gear and was really excited about getting into diving. i then had shoulder surgery, had to rehab, and then moved from mount p and actually never made a dive after being certified. i would still like to go, but looking to make some dives in 50’-60’ and most definitely need a refresher course.
from the reviews i have read and people i have talked to, it looks like the only downside of the gopro is no zoom. i still will probably try it and see how i like it. with the 170 FOV it would be neat to hook it to the t top and get some good fishing video.
