April 29. Took the boss and some friends out, awesome ocean, fished 226 hole area, put 21 nice dolphin in the box, and released a nice sail. We got into a nice rip, lots of schoolies all about 10 to 15 lbs, several boats all using spinning rods. We had a blast.
April 30 Took a group of drag races from Darrlington out, Mr Bob Walsh hosted them. We went back out deep, fish moved so we came in to ledge and found them in 250 ft, went 0/4 on billfish and kept 16 dolphin, everyone had all the meat they could carry.
May 1, Took the boss and some more of his friends out, it was turning a little lumpy so we stopped on the ledge, great choice as it was alive with fish. Picked up a couple dolphin right away, then we had 4 sails in the spread and caught and released one. Put 18 dolphin in the box, including a 35 lb bull. Jumped off another sail and then the highlight of the day was hooking a big blue marlin, almost spooled the reel, turned the boat to chase him and with too big of a bow in the line and too much pressure it broke off.
May 2. Took a family out from Lexington, very rough going out, stopped at the ledge again, as my mate Robert was putting out lines 2 dolphin hit and put one in the box. Ended up with 18 dolphin and we released another sail. Thanks Virginia and the rest or the Crooks family for a great charter
Had 6 trips this year and had shots at billfish every thim, looking like a great year.
