I had a nice morning with friend Kelly and his 7 year old grandson Wally! It was a lot of fun watching the little guy crank in some decent stripers Wicked Tuna style with the rod cocked up in the holder:smiley: We fished lower lake and caught 17 with 10 keepers 23-28 inches long. Planers and cork from the bank out to 25 feet were the ticket. Hereās a pic of my 2 friends with our morningās catch:
Nice haul Fogman! You had much better luck than I did. I didnāt venture too far. I spent the morning throwing and trolling artificials along the dam and on points in yacht cove. That pattern has been pretty successful for me for the past few years in early spring but so far this year not so much. I ended up the day with one largemouth and two or three mediocre āmystery hitsā.
Crabjack, I meant to call you but got too busy with the youngster onboard and forgot⦠Jorge, you donāt want to follow us Saturday. Weāve been lousy in tournaments so far this year:)
No problem Fogman. I was going to call you but I knew you were further up lake and the chop was picking up. The ride would have been a little too bumpy for my taste.
Yeah. The wind did get up pretty good by mid-morning. That also contributed to me being busy. It was a struggle to keep ahead of the spread at times, but the bite was decent. Hopefully, the cold, howling breeze will settle down by morning. Gonna try some different areas to try to put something together for the Saturday tournament. Iām going Thursday as well.
Thanks guys⦠I went solo today and fished lower mid-lake essentially the same way. Of course, wind was a factor. Nonethess, a decent day with numerous shorts and 7 keepers to 9 pounds. All were released since I had planned to and fried my share of Mondayās catch. Headed uplake tomorrow to give it a try. Weāve got plenty of choices for Saturday:smiley:
