Boy was it blowing today. Fished 9am-1pm. Caught 7 lost one. Umbrellas and Yumbrellas. Nothing on the X-Rap 30 or Yozuri 20. Biggest 7 lbs. 4 or 5 keepers. Fished all over different areas caught fish at each. Ballentine is loaded right now.
That’s not an Insight chip. I do not care for the insight chip however. This chip is from a guy out of Charleston who has also made one for Murray. It has a ton of good info in it and is downloaded to the machine but I do want to get a Navionics chip or one more detailed like Navionics I have on my phone. I’ll be doing that very soon cuz the contours on the one I have in there are WAY off. The humps and buoys are pretty spot on. The marks are in Ballentine, yes. We caught 2 striper off the marks on Yumbrellas so I’m guessing striper. I wish I had live bait.

He used insight as the base map or it was already installed on the unit and he downloaded data on top of it. Take a pic of just the gps zoomed out about 1/4-1/2mile of lets say bomb island. I bet you it’s identical to insight. That’s why the contours are off. Insight is off on Murray in a bunch of spots.
But to each his own…

I gotcha Chip. It may be. He owns Pro Chip. I didn’t have contours til I downloaded the chip. I definitely want a more detailed chip. You suggest Navionics or something different?
Mike, you definitely want a Navionics chip. 3 foot or less contours are hard to beat. Insight came with Hook 5 I bought in February. I was very disappointed in 20 foot contours and switched back to Navionics the next trip. The company who sold the unit talked about Insight like it was the cat’s meow-- just a shade better than nothing in my opinion.
Boatpoor, I suppose you want us to go back to triangulating shoreline points too. That’s how we did it growing up, and we were fairly successful.

James, we caught a ton of fish doing that “back in the day”, too. Or at least it seemed that way.
Mike, another vote for a GOOD chip (and I ain’t talking about Murraymaker, either, although he’s good:wink:)

I haven’t seen a new chip Tom, but it did disappear a yr or so ago on the phone app after a update. So I would say it is probably gone on the new chips…

The skillset has sure changed! Seems the man with the high tec stuff might have the upper hand! Altho when we had 40 hp we did alot more fishing and catching than rideing! Seems now if you don’t have 250 hp and a 16" bottom machine you don’t have a chance at catching a box of fish!
