APRIL FISHING TRIP TO LAKE MURRAY

Starting to gather up my gear for our April fishing trip to Lake Murray for a week of striper fishing. I’m meeting this coming weekend with a gentlemen over by Lake George that ties Jigs. I’m having some white buck tail Jigs made that I plan to run off of a three way swivel with a Alpina Diamond light spoon or a floating jointed Rapala. Any other colors recommend to have made why I’m at it. My last trip this past October we caught all of our fish on stick Baits. Most likely we will also play around with some live bait.

All I can do is sit here and think about fishing and organizing my tackle Bag as it’s sunny and Minus 24.

Chartreuse and White/Chartreuse have always been good buck tail colors for me.

The best I ever used for springtime trolling on Murray were 1/4 ounce “bullet head” chartreuse bucktails. The manufacturer sold out years ago and the new manufacturer discontinued that bucktail and color. Have never found another like it, but sure would like to do so.
The mid sized Creme Little Fishie will catch a lot of stripers. They have a very good swimming action and even wiggle on the fall. Try it you’ll like it! I’m considering putting some of them on an Alabama &/or U rig. Every color I’ve tried has caught fish.

Do you happen to have a picture of the Jig.

I love April on murray. This is some of the best planer board action of the year. And tons of schooling as well. For the last few years it’s almost like clock work by the glass house. Stop 100yrds before it to get the spread out and as soon as u get close, it’s game on!..

In October we did get pulling boards at the mouth of Saluda River. For top water casting we had some awesome hits with a white super spook with a buck tail. I was using a casting reel and a striper hit as soon as it touched the water and what a birds nest I had. But I did land the fish.
