Just wondering if all this water coming down from rivers is washing
the shrimp and mullet out to sea? Hope not. And menhaden?
Nope it seems normal to me lots of bait every where and the fishing is normal or maybe better. I caught bait at my normal bait hole no problem and fished the stono to the right of solegre about 3 miles and caught a bunch of whiting a few trout and several stingray and skate a blue fish and several silver perch and there where lots of crabs around. The only thing I thought was unusual was there was a bunch of small schools of American shad scattered down the shore that where about 3-5 inches.
Typically with the storms and including last year’s rains, the fishing and shrimping seems normal for about a week or so after the storm and then it cut’s off. Last year after the storm I caught more trout than ever, went back the next week and nothing. Nothing for the rest of the year. This has been the trend in the Stono, can’t comment on other areas but fresh water influx does take it’s toll.

Makes sense - the upstate fresh water will continue to push the salinity down for several days. I bet if you went “downstream” towards the salt (if that is possible) from your regular spots there might be some more action there?
Waccamaw river not expected to crest for another couple days!
If the tide comes in for close to 5 hours and it usually comes in at like 1.5 to 2 mph I would guess but I will just use one for this instance, then theoretically within 5 miles of the inlet should have enough water movement to prevent a drastic fluctuation in water numbers that affect fishing. I will say the stono is always brown but it was so brown it seemed thicker. I intend to fish this weekend and will do a report. Also the stono doesn’t have a major freshwater river like the Edisto or cooper or Ashly that flows down into it. Try fishing a river with no freshwater run down with in 10 miles of the inlet and you should be fine. I would actually predict great fishing in the inlet areas do to the run out. To bad my boat trailer is broke and my brothers boat is broke, so my number 1 and 2 resources to get on the water are out the game so I will likely have to bank fish.
40" hope you get your trailer repaired soon! You might forget how to fish if it’s to long! Good luck!
Bait was plentiful in salty waters today, not so much way up in the rivers/creeks where i typically find a fair amount. Blue cats and gar playing around in the coffee brown water about the harbor today
Also, what early said is pretty spot on
