Areas to fly fish during winter months

New to fly fishing here. I fish mainly out of Buck Hall. Looking for some help with the type of areas I should focus on during the colder months. I have a flats boat that can go very shallow. Should I be fishing in the creeks? In the mouths of creeks? On points? Thanks for any help. I’m just getting starting with fly fishing here and would appreciate some pointers. Thanks in advance.

Jake, some very good questions! I’ve fly fished in the Pawley’s Island area before, but in warmer weather, and as yet not much success so I’m interested in answers to those same questions.

I moved down here back in July, and have not as yet even tossed a fly. I’m a long time fly angler however, about 50 years.

I live up in Manning, near Lake Marion if you ever want to trade some fishing. I don’t have a flats boat, instead I fish from a Gheenoe.
I also have a decked jon boat that I’ve chased bass & Stripers with.

Hey Jim,

We should hook up some time. I’m an old guy too and new to boating. I have been fishing out of Buck Hall. I’m getting closer to finding the fish. Let me know if your interested in getting together. I have a 2003 Hells Bay Professional.

Jake, sounds like a plan! Would like to fish with you sometime!

Hells Bay are really nice flats boats, I’m envious! I wish I could afford a Hells Bay.

It is a nice boat. Gheenoes are nice as well. I go out based on the weather. I’m retired so I can go almost anytime. If you want to make a trip let me know and I can meet you at Buck Hall and we can fish the area. My email is rjake48@yahoo.com.
