bouy weather forecast didn’t look like fun. definitely doable but not fun lol

The ride out was not too bad. Back in was pretty nasty. There were boats anchored over ever spot I tried. No reds for me today but plenty of other stuff. I went to ten spots and boats everywhere, even spots I have never seen another boat.

2-3 @4-5 was exactly right. Not miserable but not nice. No one fishing around us but one bigger sporty. Also couldn’t find the snapper too much till late in the day. Current was ripping in the morning. Ended up with 2 gags 1 big red, released a little red and short gag and a nice mix of other fish. Plus 2 ~ 20lb Kings for the smoker on the drift line. 95-115’
We ran out Saturday morning to the Chas 60, it was a snotty ride out for my 22’ sea hunt. Stayed snotty for a couple hours but eventually settled down and got pretty nice. Figured the 60 was my best bet for snapper but didn’t catch a single one. We did land a fat 38 inch cobia and some huge flounder, all on live bait. Baracuda took another one just before we got it to the boat. BSBs and the like on cigar minnows. Left as the wind picked up again late afternoon. Wet but a better ride in. Lots of boats out there but didn’t see a lot of action.
Dang, y’all ones calling it real snotty ran the wrong direction for the direction of the seas
The ride to the 60 would’ve sucked first thing Saturday morning.
It wasn’t flat by any means, but nobody onboard thought it was bad for us. We were in my Pioneer 197. Quartering seas for us all day in and out. Actually ran back in towards IOP because of the sea state and then cut down to the jetties once inside Capers reef. We had our box full of ARS, Beeliner, triggers, and pulled the anchor to come home by 10:30, so we were headed back in about time it slicked off. Current was ripping though. I was having trouble keeping 16 oz. of lead vertical in 120’.

We ran out to the 60 in our 21 ft (probably right behind you) after spending a good amount of time looking for Menhaden off of Morris and yes it was not a pleasant ride. Sounds like you had much better luck than us. A couple of Porgies and some small bait stealers was all. It did calm down nicely around 11 or so.
