Artificials … whats the favorites this time of year… mine are below…
What is your target species?
I’ve done better on Trout, and Reds, with a Pearl color in late fall /early winter.
Matching the water color works sometimes, too.
Usually go to Electric Chicken in late winter/early spring.
Good luck, and keep us posted on your adventures!!
Thank you… I usally target trout mostly this time of year with some reds… caught one of my better trout today!
I try a new one almost every time out but, usually end up back at " Opening Night" color just based on confidence…
Opening night is very good in BP
But I have seen the Z man lectric chicken beat the saltwater assassin one
Especially when near the ocean
Anyone remember the homemade lures made by captain bill
I think
Sold out of the the boat shop on Liberty Hall road
It’s all gone now
Probably a vape shop now
I do remember…lived in Men Riv back early 80s…
You can’t beat an electric chicken in my opinion. I use that and straight white mostly. I love a pink suspending lure too worked slow in the winter.
What about sizes? Do you folks have a size that you prefer, or do you try the different sizes?
I know a guy, who lives in MD, and he fishes there and other states too. He makes frequent trips to FL and he will fish 100 days a year, from a kayak. I don’t recall what he had said, but he has caught like over 100 different fish species a year, with his trips to various areas.
He’s said that he primarily uses pearl or white, and 3" long on a jig head.
He had mentioned that he had bought a bulk order of Producto brand paddletail swimbaits, so that’s what he uses.
At times, I’ve used 3, 4 & 5" baits, and sometimes that matters, sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve got various brands, and don’t have any single favorite, but I do like the Z-Man.
I’VE only used the 4 inch paddle tails and they have seemed to work well for me.
I’ve had really good luck with Zman texas heads and thunder chicken 3/4inch with 1/8 jig heads, and NLBN paddle tails have been crushing for me. White, white/green and brown.
Thanks for the feedback, right now they seem to be really feeding for sure!
I think thats about where I am at as well… I do like trying new ones but really no single favorite.
