My son and I got out just past 7 AM and caught the railroad bridge open so we were catching bait below 526 by 7:30. While casting I spooked about 5 big reds; I’ll be back next time for them. Set up on our go to spot (third time there in three trips) and with a float caught 1 small trout, and 3 reds; two were in the slot and were tagged. We also had a shark on for a short period of time. I was checking the chunk of crab and thought was snagged then it felt like I was dragging a huge chunk of oysters. after 3 hard tugs it took off over the oyster bank…not sure if it was teeth or oysters that got the line. We did see the back and dorsal and looked to be a Lemon about 4 feet long.
We then poked around looking for new spots and picked up a 25.5" red on a z-man. By now the boat traffic was filling it so we ran back above 526 to fish some docks. Crab and mullet/shrimp under a float got 2 more slot reds and 2 rats.
Decent day fishing and didn’t let the wind bother us too much. It kept us reasonably cool most of the day.
