ashley greenway

My wife and I walked the Ashley Greenway yesterday and there were two white bridges that looked like they would hold fish. Anybody ever tried them.

If your talking about the West Ashley Greenway that parallels Savannah Highway out past the Clemson Extension center, then those bridges are over water that reportedly has trout. I’ve tried on several occasions fishing there but, as is usual for me no matter where I fish, I didn’t catch anything.

Never fished there, but we’ve walked it several times. It sure looks dang fishy to me! I would try live bait on an incoming tide. Check it out at low tide first; there’s lots of structure around.

If I get murdered in the city, don’t go revenging in my name…

I used to fish there as often as possible. I would catch bait in under the smaller bridge. I did very well with trout and flounder at low tide. It forms like a small pool at low. Problem I ran into is it gets very busy on the weekend. And during the warmer months I ran into the issue of people wading around throwing their net where I was. I typically fished it mostly during the week. Shoot me a message if you have any other questions I can help with.

There use to be a bunch of kayakers who would put in on Main Rd side of Greenway. Talked to a few of them and they said they did pretty well with the Reds on the HWY 17 side up on the flats. I’ve never tried it myself, but I have always thought you could do pretty well by the first bridge, even from the bank. Good luck if you try it out there.
