Finally have a report worth sharing. Got out on the water with the pup around 2pm and basically dodged storms for an hour, unsuccessfully. Once the rain let up I pulled up to a known spot and filled the livewell with very small finger mullet, most less than 4 inches. Cruised back upriver past Dolphin’s Cove and anchored at my favorite spot. Fished two hours there and got my first slam of the summer. Ended with a 15.5" flatty, 29" red, and a little 14" trout. If you look closely at the red, you’ll see the dog getting a little intimate.

that’s awesome! how did you fish with the mullet? what was your rig?
nice selection for dinner!! Makes waiting out the rain worthwhile!
Be careful eating fish from that fishing spot it’s loaded with phosphorous. Several years ago there was a report while shrimping the shrimp caught on fire in the boat.
People will forget what you said…
People will forget what you did…
But people will never forget how you made them feel.
Capt. Justin
I was fishing them live/whole on a simple Carolina rig with small circle hooks, about as basic a setup as you can get. All fish were caught in 1-2 feet of water during the last couple hours of incoming tide. Going to hit the same spot today with a couple buddies visiting from DC.
Thanks for the input Justintime. I definitely keep that in mind and rarely keep fish from the Ashley because I’m paranoid about it. Multiple other fisherman on the river said the main concern is much further upriver and there has been over $100 million dumped into cleanup efforts, so hopefully that will continue to improve the dirt and water quality.
