Ashley River 8/8

Got out with a buddy I hadn’t seen in a long time today. At first we struggled to find bait at the peak high tide, after wearing out the arms on the cast net we had about a dozen large shrimp to play around with. We were just cruising up the side of the river until we spotted a few reds tailing and it was on. Jimmy got his first over slot red, just barely, but he looked like a kid in a candy store. Also lost a 30" plus fish when he decided to make a beeline for the prop and promptly snapped me off. Short but fun afternoon, exploring new spots was the key today. Tide was outgoing two hours from high, fish were caught in 2 ft of water on large live shrimp on a Carolina rig. Jimmy’s fish was tagged but we were so caught up in getting him back in the water that we didn’t record it, if you look closely you can see the beat up tag behind the dorsal.
