Ashley River (All Species) Advice Sought

Hello all.

I moved here last year and now that I’m settled and have my licenses, I’m curious to know what to fish for. Living in Summerville, the Ashley River isn’t far away and I’ve found a great spot to throw a line in the water at Old Fort Dorchester Park. Question is, what can I fish for and how? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Old Fort Dorchester is tidal fresh water. There’s some decent catfishing up there, with Channels, Blues, and White Cats. They can be caught with typical catfish stuff - worms, shrimp, or cut fish. There’s also a few largemouth bass and sunfish, and a striper is even possible.

I’ve tried to the right of the ramp up river. Didn’t catch anything besides small channel cats last summer. Went down river a couple of miles and fished mudd minnows on the bottom at low tide and cleaned up on nice reds and blue cats. Haven’t fished it in this cold water though.
