Tried to go catch a few cats on the dock of the Herbert H Jessen boat ramp. Usually can catch a few there on chicken livers. No fish but the our leader to line connection always snaps. earlier this week we had the strongest fish that we had ever hooked into on the end of our line. Sadly, the albright knot did not stand a chance. It’s a ok knot but it isn’t the best. What is your best leader to braid knot?

An albright only works well with braid if you create a double line in the braid with a bimini or spider hitch. That become the standing line and the mono is tied to that with the albright. I usually use about 10 turn up and 3 back down. I use this connection exclusively on 20-30 braid and do not have any problems with failure even with locked drag and 30+ inch reds running for cover.

Personally I just attach the hook directly to the braid (30 pound test). Works for me and for lots of folks on here who can’t tell the difference in number of fish caught.
I’m with Mike, I like the Double Uni or I’ll do a modified Double Overhand. I’ve never had a problem with either of these knots and I’ve been pulling some massive tarpon and strooooong fish in down here with both of them.

Albright and Uni are great but I perfer the egg loop knot.Big reds nor 20lb cats thus far has busted that knot.I think some call it the cinch knot. No matter what the knot don’t forget to wet it before tighting it.
