I see a lot of postings here but no one speaks of the ashley river? Just wondering how people were doing fishing around there and what they were using for bait. I just moved over here and was just getting he hang of bushey park…thanks for any info

I live a few miles from the Ashley up in Summerville. It’s a beautiful river but most folks I know don’t eat fish from it. The blackwater seems to cause the methylmercury in the fish to pile up more, and there are advisories about eating fish from it.
I do not know how far downstream into the harbor area the advisory extends.

Larry’s post is all you need to read. The fish are tested. No reason not to eat salt water fish from the Ashley. There are a few limits from 526 upstream, but all are for freshwater species. Only “do not eat” is mudfish.

fish are there…the only problem is too many boats and not enough places to fish. There’s not as many small side tributaries as there are in the other rivers so all of the main hot spots have lots of activity.
I need to learn where the fish are in that creek, Leeds is the closest landing to my house
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.
