Can anyone tell me about fishing in the ashley river? A newcomer to town looking for a bite! Is it any good? any spots anyone wants to share? trout, spottails, flounder.
I think it is useless to ask for spots. Tidal fish move so often that “spots” rarely produce all the time or any given day. You have to go out there and look for different kinds of structure that could produce. Fishing from now till December is really productive. Pick a creek mouth, any creek mouth and throw something out there. You can put a treble hook on a GI Joe with Gulp. You should do well
Get a trolling motor, charge the batteries, troll. When you catch a fish, you’re in a good spot. Key in on structure; oyster rakes, creek mouths, points, docks, deep holes in creek bends, combinations of the above.

Yes, you can find some good fishing on the Ashley River.</font id=“red”>
Hit docks, structure and creek mouths. Fish the tide. The fish are there, you just have to find them. Like mentioned earlier, spots move. Once you fish it enough, you will know where they will most likely be, but not always there.</font id=“blue”>
Good Luck!!
PS… For the species you mentioned, the best “Spots” will be between the train tressel and the harbor. You can catch them past the tressel, but more likely towards the harbor.
One Simple Thanks!!
