How far down river do i need to paddle (kayak) to catch redfish? i heard you can catch some pretty big redfish about mile / mile 1/2 down river, can anyone verify this for me?

I never have

The current gets pretty swift right down from the landing during falling tide. I’m pretty sure it’d be impossible to paddle up river during that time. Plan accordingly.

Although I don’t typically fish above Middleton due to not wanting to traverse the no wake zone, I catch reds up to that point on a fairly regular basis and have seen reds in the grass just downriver of the landing. The abundance of reds depends on the salinity of the river. Heavy rain will push a lot of them down past Magnolia although some do stay. Late fall with the combination of dry weather and bait moving out of the marshes will be your best time to catch them.

It’s not that bad. A lot less flow than several sections of the Wando.

The fun spot is the huge eddy at the S just down from the landing.

That narrow no wake section with the residential docks seems pretty rough to me, but maybe I’m just not as experienced. Just a heads up.
