Ashley River

In search of a few hints on how to fish the Ashley River. All I see/catch are gars and catfish. All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

run a search on it…recently there were two long discussions on this topic.

I did ok fishing the outgoing around grass edges. What are you using for bait and how is it rigged? Mudminnows under a float worked pretty good for me.

Tidewater 196DC
Yamaha F115

Pungo 120

Blue Nose…there are exceptions…but most Bass spots in the Ashley are from the Tressle to the harbor…most Cats are caught from the Tressle up River toward Oakbrook…Again there are some Bass spots toward Oakbrook but I have mainly caught them in the Fall…fish like you normally would any other river…same baits…same rigs.ect…Remember the Ashley is shallow…lots of pluff mud bottom…must find structure or against grass lines…Saturday I fished Ashley, went to Plum Island…went to Cooper…you would not believe the difference in water clarity…Coop,Harbor, could see 2 feet down…Ashley maybe 8 inches…Boat and ski parade in full capacity…My buddy caught 4 bass in Ashley in about 10 min. time… then they shut off

I caught several shad in the cast net. I was putting the hook just above the eyes.
