Ashley River

Took my son 5 1/2 and his buddy 6 1/2 for an afternoon trip. Hit a couple of normal spots without any luck. Caught 2 trout and 1 flounder. All undersized. Boys we’re re interested in the cast net. Caught a few mullet 4-6 inches and a bunch of mud minnows. Water was pretty murky, I’m guessing because of rain. If you think you are a patient person take two young kids fishing. It’s a constant game of ducking hooks, telling them to not climb the t-top and digging out snacks. It is however truly awesome to enjoy the water with my son even it is a pain sometimes!

my 2 boys been fishing and hunting with me since they were 3 and 5 yrs old. priceless

The time we get to fish when my kids go with me has a direct correlation with the number of snacks I bring. My oldest boy still tells everyone he meets that he is the “Croaker Master”. Glad you got to take the boys out and enjoy the water. Good memories.

Some of the best times of your life. Enjoy them.

I love taking my boys fishing and putting up with all that involves just as much as I love going offshore.

Times on the water are always better with the kids and grand kids. Fish are a bonus. Glad you had a good time and caught fish.

Just before my 3rd one turned two last year. He threw packs of grubs out the boat, lots if gold fish. But, is was fun seeing him when the trout jumped in the boat. He can say boat, and when I’m at work he checks the garage to make sure the boat is still there. Lol

Ralph tells a story of when his two boys were that age. Back then he fished out of a 15 Whaler. He would pull the plug and let 4 inches of water fill the bottom of the boat, then put the plug back in. When he would catch a trout he would toss it in the boat - endless fun for two little ones! One day the DNR officer pulled up, took one look, shook his head and pulled away
